Custom Modern Rebuild
This new custom modern home in Newton was a complete teardown of an existing property, rebuilt for open concept living.
The open living space, with floor to ceiling windows, provides a wow factor. The windows and doors are retrofitted with automated shades to limit the solar gain without compromising the design. Highlights on the home’s exterior include a small pool on one side, with a free-standing balcony off the master suite, located on the second level. We originally designed this with posts ascending from the ground level, but the posts seemed intrusive since the pool sits directly underneath. The result is a free-standing balcony with the support coming from two 45-degree brackets above instead of below.
