At Hampden Design + Construction, it’s our goal to help give back to the earth what we take from it when we build and renovate homes. Did you know that it takes more than 20 full-grown Douglas Fir Trees to build every 1,000 square feet of structure?*

As a builder, I feel it’s important to protect the environment and promote sustainability within our building practices. It’s our responsibility to stay mindful of the footprints we leave and replenish the well from which we drink. This is exactly why we have decided to partner with One Tree Planted.

One Tree Planted is a non-profit organization focusing on global reforestation. Their mission is to make it easy for anyone to help the environment by simply planting trees. Started in 2014, they’ve more than doubled the number of trees planted year over year. They now work with reforestation partners in North America, South America, Asia, and Africa to get trees in the ground.

Hampden Design + Construction has personally pledged to plant a minimum of 1200 trees in North America forests each year.

Climate change and global warming are some of the biggest challenges we face this century. Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink and provide habitat to over 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity. These same trees are torn down to make space for buildings and repurposed into their walls. It’s our goal to make sure there is an even exchange between how much we give and how much we take.

The current world pandemic is the perfect demonstration of how human activities have negatively impacted the environment by increased carbon dioxide emissions and increasing temperatures. We’ve all seen the pictures and videos of waters clearing up and nature coming back to life – when the world shut down, mother earth began thriving.

It’s our mission to build beautiful homes with respect to the land on which we build. We are proud to partner with One Tree Planted, spreading their message, and trees, across the globe.
